There have been reports of Imran Khan suffering vision loss inside Adiala Jail, which has triggered serious international concern. 14 former international cricket captains, including Sunil Gavaskar, sent a formal appeal to the Government of Pakistan, urging fair treatment for the Pakistan cricket legend.

Imran has reportedly lost nearly 85 percent of vision in his right eye. The development has intensified debate, with critics suggesting that opponents can be worn down gradually rather than openly silenced. Khan has said he suffered from blurred vision for several months, adding to concerns about his health.

Greg Chappell Writes Petition After Concerns Over Imran Khan’s Health

Former Australia captain Greg Chappell decided to write the petition after reports surfaced about the declining health of Imran Khan inside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. Imran has been in prison for a little over two years following corruption charges.

“Recent reports concerning his health – particularly the alarming deterioration of his vision while in custody – and the conditions of his imprisonment over the past two and a half years have caused us profound concern,” the former captains wrote.

“As fellow cricketers who understand the values of fair play, honour, and respect that transcend the boundary rope, we believe that a person of Imran Khan’s stature deserves to be treated with the dignity and basic human consideration befitting a former national leader and a global sporting icon.”

It’s Terrible What They Are Doing to Him – Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar expressed strong concern over the treatment of Imran Khan. He said the situation was terrible and added that their relationship goes beyond on-field rivalry.

“It’s terrible what they are doing to him. We have been friends since he was trying to qualify as an overseas player for Worcestershire and not just rivals on the field,” Gavaskar said.
