NHL Trade Board 1.0 with the usual suspects at the top
Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet: Connor Hellebuyck and Dylan Larkin each have five years left on their contracts and a full no-movement clauses. Teams have been provided, but the Winnipeg Jets and Detroit Red Wings are working with limited options, as not all teams are interested. The Montreal Canadiens would love to add Larkin, but he’s not interested in playing in Canada. Both the Jets and Red Wings aren’t really interested in futures, as they’re looking to compete now.
If Hellebuyck gets shipped out, what does that mean for center Mark Scheifele? Would they consider moving him as well? The Canadiens are among the teams that have inquired about Scheifele, and the cost would be high. Prospects like Michael Hage or Oliver Kapanen, and others would need to be included, likely Kirby Dach. Sam Montembeault could be an option to pair with Stuart Skinner.
Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kirill Marchenko desperately wants to be traded, with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Montreal Canadiens being interested.
Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser will be looking to increase his scoring and trade value. He could become a trade candidate before the deadline.
If the Canucks retained $2-2.5 million on Elias Pettersson, teams may justify that with the salary cap going up.

Jason Robertson – Dallas Stars – Pending UFA at $12 million – Extension eligible on January 1st, but unlikely to sign a long-term deal than as he wouldn’t have any trade protection and the Stars could send him to Seattle. The Pittsburgh Penguins will be interested, trade or free agency, and they already acquired his brother Nick.
Mark Scheifele – Winnipeg Jets – Five years at $8.5 million.
Quinn Hughes – Minnesota Wild – Pending UFA at $7.85 million – If he won’t extend, would the Wild look to move or hold on to him as an own rental.
Zach Werenski – Columbus Blue Jackets – Two years left at $9,583,333. Hard to say where the Blue Jackets are going to end up.
Matthew Knies – Toronto Maple Leafs – Five years left at $7.75 million. Has size, speed, and no trade protection. Could be a trade asset if they are looking to add another big fish.
Alex DeBrincat – Detroit Red Wings – Pending UFA at $7,875,000 – Will interim GM Shawn Horcoff be able to extend DeBrincat? Will be a trade candidate if not.
Vince Dunn – Seattle Kraken – Pending UFA at $7.350 million – Will be in the rumor mill until he’s extended. Could be looking for Bowen Byram money – $12.5 million.
Erik Karlsson – Pittsburgh Penguins – Pending UFA at $10 million, but a $1.5 million salary – If the Penguins are out of it, will likely be asked to waive his no-movement clause.
Jordan Binnington – St. Louis Blues – Pending UFA at $6 million – Rumors will continue.
Pavel Zacha – Boston Bruins – Pending UFA at $4.75 million – Teams like the Nashville Predators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens are paying attention. A long-term deal at $9 million from the Bruins might interest him, or does he wait to test the market?
Brock Boeser – Vancouver Canucks – Six years left at $7.25 million – Would be hard to move.
Elias Pettersson – Vancouver Canucks – Six years left at $11.6 million.
