The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), Dharamshala, has released the application process, fee structure and eligibility conditions for the Matriculation and ‘Jam-2’ supplementary, compartment and improvement examinations scheduled for June/July 2026.The announcement was made by HPBOSE Chairman Dr Rajesh Sharma, who stated that candidates seeking to appear for the examinations can now submit applications through their respective schools and institutions. The Board has also issued category-wise eligibility details and examination fee information for students applying under different sections.Eligibility criteria for Matriculation candidatesAccording to the Board, Matriculation students who have passed at least three out of the five compulsory subjects will be eligible to apply under the “Essential Improvement Category”. Candidates who have cleared all compulsory subjects and intend to improve their scores may apply under the “Optional Improvement Category”.Students placed under the “Compartment Category” will also be permitted to submit examination forms in line with the existing Board regulations. The Board clarified that applications under all categories must follow the prescribed rules and conditions notified for the June/July 2026 examinations.Application rules for ‘Jam-2’ examinationsFor the ‘Jam-2’ or Senior Secondary level examinations, candidates under the “Compartment Category” and “Optional Improvement Category” will be allowed to apply as per Board guidelines. HPBOSE stated that applications from fresh candidates will not be accepted for the June/July 2026 examination cycle.The Board has directed schools and institutions to ensure that eligible students complete the application process within the stipulated period. All examination forms will be accepted only through online mode.Fee structure and submission deadlinesDr Sharma stated that the examination fee for Matriculation Compartment and Essential Improvement categories has been fixed at Rs 700 per subject. Candidates applying under the Optional Improvement category will have to pay Rs 950 per subject for a maximum of three subjects.At the ‘Jam-2’ level, the examination fee for Compartment and Additional Subject categories has been fixed at Rs 700 per subject. Candidates applying under the “Improvement of Performance” category will have to pay Rs 1150.Candidates may submit applications without a late fee until June 1, 2026. Applications submitted until June 5, 2026 will attract a late fee of Rs 1000. The Board has advised students and schools to complete submissions within the notified deadlines.
