Don’t expect Connor Hellebuyck to end up with the New York Rangers

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on the news of New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin is done for the season, and the idea of Connor Hellebuyck being an option.

Ron McLean: “So a tough blow for the New York Rangers.”

Friedman: “It’s brutal. It’s, you know, brutal for hockey fans everywhere. Nobody likes to see this. We all want to see our best players playing. And last night, Igor Shusterkin was injured on this play, and (yesterday) morning, it was announced by the Rangers that he is out for the season. Unfortunately, though, to at this point, they have not revealed the exact injury.

NHL Injuries: Ducks, Blackhawks, Panthers, Rangers, Flyers, Sharks, Kraken, Leafs and More

Now, this has led to a lot of wild speculation, and that’s what we do, especially online about, could Connor Hellebuyck be a fit for the Rangers? Don’t expect it. I just don’t think it matches up. I don’t think it works. And also, particularly because both goalies would have long-term deals after this season if they were still there. So I think we can tone that one down.

And I do believe the Rangers will try to be patient with this and navigate it through and not make any kind of quick panic move. Dylan Garland will play against the Vancouver Canucks . He was scheduled to do so anyway, and he gets a huge opportunity.”

The Vancouver Canucks are one of the teams interested in Connor Zary

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman said there is some interest in Calgary Flames Connor Zary, who is now playing in the AHL. The Vancouver Canucks could be one of the interested teams.

“Okay, elsewhere, Calgary Flames. Last night, Connor Zary returned to the American Hockey League, scored after clearing waivers in his first game. I don’t get the sense anything is imminent right now. The Flames only have one retention spot available, and they don’t want to retain money, so it’s probably going to take something creative.

What direction are the Detroit Red Wings going to go in?

But I do think Vancouver is one of the teams that has looked at Zary. I think there’s a few more, obviously, but I’ve heard the Canucks are one of the teams that are considering it, and it makes sense.
