The Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers Swap Goaltenders and Defensemen
Russ Cohen: “Well, I heard that as far as the team goes, they’re pretty happy. It doesn’t seem like they’re going to make a big splash in free agency. They’ve always kind of talked about that, and I don’t think that’s happening.
I think they might pick up an extra defenseman, a bottom-pairing defenseman, and a bottom-line left wing. I think they’re looking for that. I don’t think they’re looking for the moon, so I think that’s that.
I still think they’re looking to upgrade via a trade because they’re still looking for a center or a top power-play guy. And I think, as bad as their power play has been the last two or three years, they really didn’t discuss that too much here. But you could tell they’re still trying to upgrade there. So, does that mean that they would trade there first? Probably not.
Danny doesn’t seem like he wants to do that. So, I think it has to kind of be like a hockey trade. So, I still think they’re looking for that, and, you know, they’re going to sign (Dan) Vladar. And then I think after that they’re going to sign (Trevor) Zegras.
Both Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers Can Benefit From Their Hockey Trade
So, I think that’s really the summer that Flyers fans are looking at, and they made the playoffs last year. They’re expecting to make the playoffs this year, but as you know, in the NHL, you’ve got to keep getting better. Things happen, nothing’s guaranteed.”
