Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry has achieved a massive historic milestone during the one-off Women’s Test match against India at the WACA Ground. The veteran cricketer completed 1000 runs across all three formats of the game in international cricket during the second day (Saturday, March 7) in Perth.

Ellyse Perry scored 76 runs off 116 deliveries, including 10 fours and one six in Australia’s first innings. The batter was dismissed by all-rounder Deepti Sharma. She added a 128-run partnership with Annabel Sutherland for the fourth wicket, taking the home team close to India’s total without losing more wickets.

Ellyse Perry joined a very elite and legendary list of Australian cricketers like David Warner, Steve Smith, Mitch Marsh, Shane Watson, Travis Head, and Matthew Wade, who have scored 1000 runs in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.

Ellyse Perry is only the second female cricketer in the world to score 1000 runs in all three international formats. Former England captain Charlotte Edwards was previously the only woman to achieve this incredible record.

Ellyse Perry also became the highest run-scorer for the Australia women’s team in Test match history. She went past Karen Rolton’s previous record of 1002 runs to reach the top of the list. She became the 11th player overall to score 1000 runs in Women’s Tests.

India Bowled Out for 198 at the WACA

Australian captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and elected to bowl first on a grassy surface. India were bowled out for a total of 198 runs in 62.4 overs.

Jemimah Rodrigues was the top scorer for the visitors, scoring a gritty 52 runs to hold the innings together when wickets were tumbling.

Shafali Verma added 35 runs at the top of the order, while Kashvee Gautam showed great fight lower down the order by contributing a valuable 34 runs to the total.

Annabel Sutherland grabbed outstanding bowling figures of 4/46. 19-year-old debutant Lucy Hamilton took 3/31 in her first outing in the baggy green. The left-arm seamer dismissed Smriti Mandhana for just four runs and later dismissed the dangerous Rodrigues.

Australia Women Take First-Innings Lead Against India Women

The Australia Women’s cricket team has gone past India’s first-innings total of 198 runs. The hosts have comfortably taken the lead and are in a very dominant position on the second day of the pink-ball game.

At the time of writing, Australia have scored 208/4 after 55 overs, with Annabel Sutherland and Beth Mooney at the crease. Sutherland was batting on 90 runs off just 114 deliveries. Mooney and Sutherland have added an unbeaten partnership of 22 runs from 45 deliveries for the fifth wicket.

Pacer Sayali Satghare has taken two wickets for 38 runs in her 11 overs. Kranti Gaud and spinner Deepti Sharma also chipped in with one wicket each. Kashvee Gautam (0/42), Sneh Rana (0/46), and Shafali Verma (0/5) are still searching for their first wickets of the innings.
