Comedian and YouTuber Samay Raina was spotted making another appearance before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell on Friday in connection with the investigation into his YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent‘ which was embroiled in controversy early this year.
This is Raina’s second appearance before the Cyber Cell, following a prior visit on February 24.
The investigation stems from allegations that the show promotes obscenity and vulgar content. An FIR was filed against several people associated with India’s Got Latent, including Raina, YouTubers Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia, and others. The complaint accuses the show of featuring sexually explicit discussions and making obscene content accessible to the public on YouTube.
Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain confirmed that notices had been served to several individuals named in the FIR. He said to ANI, “We have served notices, but they have not complied yet. We are looking into the matter as per legal procedure and will take action accordingly.”
In response to the legal proceedings, Raina recently announced the rescheduling of his India tour and announced that he would refund ticket expenses.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Allahbadia, also named in the FIR, issued a public apology, admitting his remarks were inappropriate and lacked humour.
“My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte; I am just here to say sorry,” Allahbadia said.
He further acknowledged concerns about his influence on younger audiences and vowed to use his platform more responsibly moving forward. “Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect,” he added.
