Team USA Made Its Decision About Adam Fox After Four Nations
Friedman: “So one other thing with the Rangers, Kyle, did you see Adam Fox post-game?
Fox: “I mean, I’m just trying to, you know, focus on this year right now and play each game. I mean, that’s really all I could, could do right now. Could, could control is, you know, I was just trying to work to get back and help the team finish strong. So I think that’s, that’s where my head’s at. Obviously, you know, that’s the focus right now. And I think that’s a conversation when we’re done playing games. We’re trying to win games and do that tonight, and I think that’s where, that’s where my focus is right now.”
Bukauskas: “That sounds like a guy that’s really starting to think about his future.”
Friedman: “What that says to me is that’s an end-of-season conversation.”
Bukauskas: “Yes.”
Friedman: “And the one thing I’m going to be careful with here is that, this is a guy who moved heaven and earth, as was his right under CBA rules, this is a guy who moved heaven and earth to become a Ranger. So to me it’s all about everybody take a time out and we’ll see how we feel about the end of the season. But that’s another thing to keep an eye on with the Rangers.
NHLRumors.com Note: This story between Adam Fox and the New York Rangers has been brewing since the start of the season. Head coach Mike Sullivan commented on Fox’s game and said he thought he could play at an even higher level. Fox, like the rest of the Rangers, didn’t have a great 2024-25 season, but Fox has rebounded nicely and has shown he can still be an elite defenseman in the NHL.
NHL Rumors: New York Rangers; Gavrikov, Trocheck, Brodzinski and Quick
As mentioned on the Podcast, the Rangers and Adam Fox will revisit this at the end of the season because, as of Letter 2.0, Fox, J.T. Miller, Mika Zibanejad, and Igor Shesterkin were not going anywhere. But given how Fox was left off the Olympic Team, with other Rangers going as Sullivan and GM Chris Drury lobbied for them to get on, Fox is contemplating a move and whether he fits in Sullivan’s system.
The New York Rangers are open for business. It will be interesting to see how far this rebuild goes. Because that is what it is. Not a retool.

NHL Rumors: San Jose Sharks Will Be Cautious Buyers at the Deadline
Arda Ocal: “Take us through some names that you do expect to see on the move before the deadline next Friday.
Emily Kaplan: “Well, a center getting a ton of interest right now is Nazem Kadri with the Calgary Flames. I think they’ve had a conversation with him. He’s open to being moved. And obviously, he’d get a ton of interest around the league. I’d keep an eye on the Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars.
The St Louis Blues, I have heard are shopping their players, hard, very high asking prices, is what I keep hearing. But Jordan Kyrou, Robert Thomas, and Justin Faulk are all in the mix.
And kind of an under the radar guy, but Connor Murphy of the Chicago Blackhawks. Think that trade could get done sometime in the next few days.”
