A Netflix documentary features “never-before-heard revelations and first-hand accounts” around former NBA star Lamar Odom being found unresponsive at the Love Ranch brothel outside Las Vegas.
Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom includes interviews with Odom and his ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian.
Social media celebrity Kardashian says late NBA legend Kobe Bryant helped her make a decision to arrange surgery for Odom.
101GreatGoals.com outlines the documentary and explains how to watch Untold, which premiered on March 31 2026.
Lamar Odom now: Ex-NBA champion in Netflix documentary
Odom, who had a drug addiction at the time of the incident but did not die, likens his ordeal to “swimming in a cesspool of trauma”.
“Every recovering addict knows that you want to kind of stay away from things that were traumatizing in your life,” Odom told USA TODAY.
“I’m trying to get out of it, but the story reels me back into that pool every time. But I just know I’m bigger than the situation, and I hope to help a lot of people by giving my testimony – not just with the story, but just in life, that we can all overcome addiction.”
When did Lamar Odom overdose?
The documentary recounts how emergency services were asked to “hurry, please” when Odom was discovered at the now-demolished brothel on October 13 2015.
“I didn’t have any cocaine to take to the brothel that day,” said Odom, adding that he had been “heated” after signing his divorce papers from Kardashian.
“I thought I was going to live out a young addict mind’s dream and go to this brothel with some cocaine and go all out that night. And that just wasn’t the case.
“It was like a hit. Obviously, they missed. I don’t know if they want to finish the job.”
Odom spent almost three months recovering at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Now 46, he told the outlet that he suffered 12 strokes and six heart attacks, but defied medical predictions that he would never walk or talk again.
Why Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom divorced
Kardashian and Odom married 30 days after meeting in 2009. Their divorce was finalized in December 2016 after Kardashian filed for a second time.
“Everyone around me was like, ‘He’ll never say he wants the divorce’,” said Kardashian.
“We do the intervention. I give my speech. And he was like, ‘okay, all I want is my passport, and yeah, let’s get the… divorce.’”
In the documentary, Kardashian says Odom’s lungs collapsed during his treatment and she was told there was a 10% chance surgery would keep him alive.
Kardashian said Bryant – Odom’s former Lakers teammate – “helped me make the decision”. “We got his lungs to work, and he didn’t die. But he fell into a coma.”
The podcast host, socialite and businesswoman rented Odom a house but says he was “playing me so I can continue this lifestyle for him”.

“I said, ‘By Monday, you need out of this house. I’m done. I’m not paying for a thing, and I never want to speak to you again,’” she recalled.
The pair were awkwardly reunited on Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” which aired in February 2025. “To me, it didn’t really go well,” said Odom.
“Felt like she was in attack mode, but I can’t really invalidate her feelings, and I won’t do that. I kind of almost felt sorry for her, in a sense, when I walked away from it… I could understand the hurt that I caused her.”
Odom has been sober since January 28. USA Today said he had been approaching 60 days of sobriety on March 24 and completed a 30-day stay in a rehabilitation centre in February following an arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence in January.
He has pleaded not guilty, with a bench trial scheduled for July 7.
Lamar Odom career, NBA record
The fourth overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in 1999, New York-born Odom made the All-Rookie First Team in 2000, became a bronze medalist with Team USA at the 2004 Olympic Games and won the NBA in 2009 and 2010 with the Lakers.
Odom says five-time NBA winner Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash in 2020, is “more than a brother to me”.
“It’s the reason why I got him tattooed on my neck… so he can kind of stay in my ear and help guide me through this thing that we call life,” explained Odom.
