Terri Irwin and son Robert Irwin have revealed why Bindi Irwin missed the third annual Steve Irwin Gala again this year.

The duo were all smiles as they hit the red carpet for the event in Las Vegas on Saturday evening when they revealed Bindi, 27, is lying low and recuperating amid her battle with endometriosis.

The Wildlife Warrior and mother-of-one, who is married to American former wakeboarder Chandler Powell, 29, also missed the gala event last year due to a ruptured appendix.

Speaking to E! News at the event, Terri, 61, explained Bindi wasn’t going to be attending.

“This year she’s just staying a little close to home,” she explained.

“So, things like a lot of travel are a bit challenging for her at the moment and so she’ll be here next year to celebrate this wonderful night.

“Bindi is doing so much better now.”

In March, Bindi shared a candid post amid her battle with endometriosis, telling fans she’s had 50 lesions removed and even a chocolate cyst, which is a fluid-filled sac removed.

It was for Endometriosis Awareness month.

“An appendectomy and a hernia repair,” she said she also had.

“I’ve felt indescribable, inescapable pain. Trying to keep my invisible illness to myself after being told by doctors it was just “part of being a woman.” I spent 10 years being undiagnosed.

“No one deserves to suffer in silence… If you’re in pain, my heart breaks for you. I believe you. Please find answers. And don’t give up on yourself. I know how hard that can be.”
