Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s dream of playing for India has finally come true, as he received his maiden call-up to the T20I side for the upcoming Ireland and England tours as well as for the Asian Games 2026.
As soon as the news of his first India call-up came in, celebrations broke out at his home. The teenage batting sensation is currently in Sri Lanka with the India A team for the one-day tri-series, involving Afghanistan A as well.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi earned his maiden India call-up after his incredible performances for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2026 season. The left-handed batter has impressed everyone with his fearless batting and ended the tournament as the highest run-scorer with 776 runs, winning the Orange Cap.

Now, the selectors rewarded the Bihar wonderkid with a place in India’s squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England, along with the Asian Games 2026 in Japan. Following the announcement, a big celebration broke out in Vaibhav’s hometown, Tajpur, a village in the Samastipur district of Bihar, with media, family, and friends gathered to congratulate his family.

In the viral video shared by Revsportz on X (formerly Twitter), Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s father was honored with a shawl and a plant to celebrate his son’s selection for the India national cricket team, as the young batter is currently on tour in Sri Lanka with the India A squad.
The celebration turned emotional and joyful as people gathered to mark the special occasion. Well, the celebrations continued with fireworks at home, and several media personnel also reached the residence to capture the moment and take interviews.
Speaking on the occasion, Vaibhav’s father said that this achievement is the result of his son’s hard work, dedication, and constant effort over the years.

BCA President calls Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s India selection a historic moment for Bihar
Meanwhile, the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) congratulated Vaibhav and his family on his India call-up. The BCA president Harsh Vardhan described Vaibhav’s selection as a historic achievement and said it reflects both his hard work and the rising talent coming out of Bihar.
BCA President Harsh Vardhan said, “Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s selection to the Indian team is a historic achievement for Bihar cricket. This is not just the success of an individual player but a reflection of the continuous growth of cricket in Bihar, the hard work of our players, and the emergence of exceptional talent from the state. On the other hand, BCA Secretary Ziaul Arfin said that Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s achievement is an “inspiration for millions of young cricketers” in Bihar. He congratulated him on earning a maiden India call-up that he earned through ‘talent, discipline, and relentless hard work.’
