The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has been one of the most injury-prone seasons. As many cricketers have been ruled out before the tournament, and some in the middle phases. Last night, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Jamie Overton sustained a right thigh injury and has been out of further participation in the competition this season.
Ahead of CSK’s next game, they have announced the replacement for the England pacer. Dian Forrester will join CSK for INR 75 lakh as a replacement for Overton. The South Africa cricketer is a promising prospect as he made his debut in March 2026 against New Zealand and impressed everyone with his all-round skills during the series.
Jamie Overton was key for CSK
Jamie Overton has been a valuable addition for CSK. The English pacer is the second-highest wicket-taker for the Men in Yellow with 14 wickets in 10 games, and was economical as well. Ruturaj Gaikwad used him well in the middle phases and death overs as well. He has also scored runs towards the back end, playing some small, impactful innings.
CSK has been in good form after their rough start to the tournament. They are well within the playoff race, but Ruturaj Gaikwad’s side has to win all their next game to keep the playoff hopes alive. However, Jamie Overton’s absence will surely create an imbalance in the side with him offering pace bowling and some batting towards the lower order.
