In a heart-stopping finish at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Gujarat Titans (GT) held their nerve to defeat Delhi Capitals (DC) by a solitary run in Match 14 of IPL 2026. Asked to bowl first after losing the toss, Delhi fought back brilliantly but fell agonisingly short, finishing on 209/8 in reply to Gujarat’s imposing 210/4.

Gujarat Titans’ top order fires in unison

Gujarat’s innings was built on three magnificent half-centuries. Captain Shubman Gill led from the front with a classy 70 off 45 balls (4 fours, 5 sixes), anchoring the innings after an early wicket. Jos Buttler continued his rich vein of form, smashing 52 off just 27 deliveries (3 fours, 5 sixes) before falling to Kuldeep Yadav. The duo added 60 runs for the second wicket.

The late charge was powered by Washington Sundar, who played a breathtaking cameo of 55 off 32 balls (6 fours, 2 sixes), adding 104 runs for the third wicket with Gill. Glenn Phillips provided the final flourish with an unbeaten 14 off 9, as Gujarat finished at 210/4 in their 20 overs.

For Delhi, Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets each, but the bowlers leaked runs at an economy of over 10.5.

DC’s chase: KL Rahul’s heroics in vain

Chasing 211, Delhi lost Pathum Nissanka (41 off 24) after a solid 76-run opening stand with KL Rahul. Nitish Rana (5) and Sameer Rizvi (0) fell cheaply, and when Axar Patel (2) departed, Delhi were struggling at 134/4.

KL Rahul stood tall, playing a captain’s knock of 92 off 52 balls (likely 9 fours, 3 sixes), holding the innings together. David Miller (41 not out off 20) and Vipraj Nigam (12 off 7) kept Delhi in the hunt, but Rashid Khan’s miserly spell (4-0-17-3) and Prasidh Krishna’s two wickets choked the run flow.

Needing 11 off the final over, Delhi managed only 9, with Kuldeep Yadav run out off the last ball attempting a second run. Gujarat celebrated a thrilling 1-run victory, their second win of the season.

Rashid Khan was the pick of the Gujarat bowlers, returning stunning figures of 3/17 in 4 overs, removing Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi and Axar Patel. Prasidh Krishna (2/52) and Mohammed Siraj (1/52) provided support. Miller’s brain-fade moment of denying a single on the penultimate ball led to Delhi’s defeat.
