Friedman: “And Nashville, we’ll see if this is the week. they had in-person visits last week. I believe Brett Peterson from Florida. Bill Scott from Edmonton. Darren York from Carolina. They asked permission to talk to Eric Tulsky. They were denied. Bold, bold request.”

Kyle Bukauskas: “Interesting one, yes.”

Friedman: “Yeah, bold request. But we’ll see if this is the group they’re choosing from, and if they are making a decision or there’s anyone else out there I’m missing.

You know what, Kyle, you started the podcast with all the surprises. I think we should be ready for anything.”

NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, and the Nashville Predators

The Toronto Maple Leafs may not have been that interested in Pete DeBoer, and may lean towards an up-and-comer like Manny Malhotra

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman, on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast – The Easter Exit episode on the Toronto Maple Leafs and their coaching situation, and how they may not have been that interested in Pete DeBoer.

Friedman: “I’ll say this too quickly about Toronto. I don’t think Toronto was going to go after DeBoer. I think if they wanted to hire him, they could have done it earlier in the year.

I just, my theory on Toronto is, if they do make a coaching change, maybe like a Manny Malhotra is the kind of guy that they look at.”

Kyle Bukaukas: “So an up-and-comer.”

Doug Armstrong Seems Unlikely, but What About Kevyn Adams or Sunny Mehta for the Maple Leafs?

Friedman: “An up-and-comer. Just this, I again, this is just listening to Pelley talk and going back over that press conference and seeing what he’s kind of looking at, I think early in this search. I think they want to try something a bit different.”
