Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill showed huge excitement after winning the toss against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. In a viral video, the right-handed batter was seen celebrating like a child, raising his arms in joy and smiling after a long run of losing the toss.

Gujarat Titans secured a one-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC) to register their first victory of the season. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants came into the match with strong confidence after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Both teams named unchanged playing XIs for the clash in Lucknow on Sunday, April 12.

Shubman Gill Celebrates Like a Kid After Finally Winning the Toss

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first on a hot afternoon in Lucknow. The decision came early in the match, but what followed soon after attracted more attention than the toss itself.

After completing his brief chat with the broadcaster, Gill was caught on camera celebrating the moment. The 26-year-old raised his arms, smiled widely, and laughed, clearly enjoying finally seeing the coin fall in his favor after several attempts.

This was Gill’s first toss win in IPL 2026, which explained his excitement. His reaction also amused teammates, who shared the moment with smiles, as Gujarat Titans finally ended their run of losing tosses this season.

Looking To Play Better Cricket – Shubman Gill

Gujarat Titans went into the match against Lucknow Super Giants with the same playing XI that secured a one-run win over Delhi Capitals. Shubman Gill said the team gained confidence from that victory and wants to improve further, aiming to avoid taking matches to the final over.

“We’ll field first. Two points in the last match gave us plenty of confidence. Looking to play better cricket and ensure the match doesn’t go to the last over. We have had a tremendous time; consistency is important in a long tournament such as the IPL. After 14 matches, the most consistent team will win the tournament. Same team for us today,” said Gill.

Lucknow Super Giants also retained their previous XI after their match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Captain Rishabh Pant praised the players for showing strong commitment on the field and putting in full effort.

“But at the same time, in the last match we played, we talked about intent on the field. We always talk about that as a team, and that was great to see when we were on the field, we were putting bodies on the line. We are playing with the same team,” said Pant.
