Nothing imminent with Adam Fantilli and the Columbus Blue Jackets, but talks are ongoing
Mark Scheig of The Hockey News: Columbus Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell said that talks with Adam Fantilli‘s agent continue, and that he’s 100% certain they’ll get a deal done. Nothing is imminent as of yesterday.
“I’m 100% that we’ll get this thing done,” Waddell said. “It’s not imminent, but we’re talking on a pretty regular basis now. I talked to his agent over the weekend and going to talk again here today or tomorrow. So, as long as you are talking, I always feel like you’re going to find a way to get a solution for everybody and everybody’s happy.”
Waddell said that management is redoing their five-year plan given the changing landscape this past offseason brought. They’ll have to think of what a Kirill Marchenko extension might look like if he’s still with the team, and what a Zach Werenski deal could look like.

Jake DeBrusk says that he hasn’t asked for a trade
Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet: Vancouver Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk said before the trade deadline that he wasn’t interested in being part of a rebuild. A day later, he clarified that he had wished he had thought it through a little, but they were going through a tough time.
DeBrusk sounds excited for this upcoming season as a Canucks, and said this week that he hasn’t asked for a trade.
“I want to say this on the record: I have not asked for a trade. There are all kinds of crazy things out there sometimes, but I haven’t talked to anyone about that. I signed in Vancouver for a reason. I wanted to help them win, and I still think I can help them.
“This is my 10th season. I’ve been around some pretty good leaders. I’ve been through a lot of things, learned a lot. I think I can help (younger players). I may be turning 30, but I act like I’m 25. I’m just excited to get going again.”

With five years left on his contract, and with the Canucks rebuilding, rumors will be flying again this season. DeBrusk does have a no-movement clause, but the Canucks will be looking for assets and to get younger.
