Aishwarya Rai Bachchan‘s rise to international fame was significantly boosted by her debut Hollywood film, ‘Bride and Prejudice‘, in 2004. She also appeared on prominent late-night shows, notably on ‘The Late Show’ with David Letterman, where she gracefully addressed cultural misunderstandings, leaving a lasting impression on Indian viewers.
During the show, Aishwarya was questioned about whether all Indian children live with their parents as adults. In response, she said, “It is fine to live with your parents because it is also common in India that we don’t have to make appointments with our parents for dinner.”
Following her Miss World win in 1994, Aishwarya began her acting career in 1997 with Mani Ratnam’s ‘Iruvar’, a Tamil film. In the same year, she made her Bollywood debut with ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya’, launching her journey in Indian cinema.
Aishwarya has delivered numerous blockbusters throughout her notable career, including ‘Devdas’, ‘Mohabbatein’, ‘Dhoom 2’, and ‘Guru’, among many others. Her most recent major projects were Mani Ratnam’s pan-India films ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ and ‘Ponniyin Selvan: II’, where she portrayed the role of Nandini/Oomai Rani, not Mandakini Devi. Both films achieved significant box office success, solidifying her enduring presence in the industry.
On the personal front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is married to Abhishek Bachchan, and they exchanged vows in 2007. The couple is blessed with a daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, who frequently accompanies her parents at public events.
