It was expected that he would bat long and help the Kolkata Knight Riders post a big total on the board. But his stay at the crease was cut short by Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel in the 9th over.

Axar Patel bowled a full and straight delivery outside off, to which Venkatesh Iyer swung across the line and got a top edge. The Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder ended up misusing it towards cover, where Vipraj Nigam completed a safe catch.
