Khloé Kardashian Says She Was Told She ‘Wasn’t Funny Anymore’ After Losing Weight

Khloé Kardashian is unbothered by the noise.

On Wednesday’s June 18, installment of her Khloé in Wonderland podcast, The Kardashians star and influencer Whitney Simmons opened up about their fitness and mental health journeys. Looking back, Kardashian shared that she faced mixed criticism after losing weight, with some even calling her a “traitor to the bigger community.”

“‘I’m not myself, I’m not funny anymore, I’m not all the things that I still am at my core,’ I just aesthetically look a little different,” Kardashian said of the comments she received following her weight loss.

She said at one point, she “came to terms” with the fact that she can’t please everyone.

“You know what, I’m never going to make everyone happy,” Kardashian said. “But am I happy? Okay, cool.”

Kardashian agreed that although she “felt more confident” with a little more weight on, society played a part in her desire to lose weight.

“I never thought I was fat until I got on TV and everyone told me how fat I was,” the Good American co-founder said. “I didn’t know I was fat. What’s interesting is, looking back, I’m like, wait, I actually wasn’t as fat as even I convinced myself that I was. But it was a different time, too. People were so thin during that time,” she said.

In April, Kardashian spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about her current health and fitness goals.

“I’m at this stage in my [health] journey for the past few years that I’ve been really trying to up my protein intake. I’m all about muscle definition and being strong and healthy, not just skinny,” Kardashian said while promoting her Khloud Protein Popcorn.

The entrepreneur said she was in search of a tasty snack packed with protein that she wasn’t able to find on the market, so she made her own.

“Protein wise, I’m not someone that is going to sit down and have steak and eggs all day long, and I need to consume protein. I was going to fitness stores to get protein, grab and go. And they don’t taste very well, in my opinion, and they’re filled with so much filler and artificial stuff. And I really just wanted something, selfishly, that tasted great, that didn’t have a ton of ingredients in it, that I could [fulfill] my protein intake [with].”   

The idea for her brand was inspired by her two children, daughter True, 7, and son Tatum, 2, whom she shares with ex Tristan Thompson. As a mom, Kardashian said it can be frustrating to try and find healthy and clean snacks for her kids.

“I love a kid’s menu. I am never going to get rid of that,” she said as she laughed. “I don’t have some refined taste palette, I really don’t. I  wish I did, just to admit that I had that, but I think I’ll always be a snacker. I just want to feel good about the things I’m eating.”
