Paris Saint-Germain produced a late surge to beat Bayern Munich 2-0 in a tense and eventful Club World Cup clash.

The match began with high, end-to-end attacks as both sides looked to impose their style early.

Bayern threatened first through Michael Olise, who saw a powerful effort from distance pushed away by Gianluigi Donnarumma inside six minutes.

The Italian goalkeeper was in inspired form, repeatedly denying Bayern throughout the evening. PSG, meanwhile, looked dangerous on the counter, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia a constant outlet on the left.

The first half was disrupted by multiple stoppages, including injuries to Jamal Musiala and Josip Stanisic, both of whom were forced off.

Musiala was replaced by Serge Gnabry at the break, while Stanisic made way for Sacha Boey after 34 minutes.

Despite the breaks in rhythm, both teams managed to create chances, with Harry Kane and Kingsley Coman going close for the German side, and Kvaratskhelia testing Manuel Neuer twice from tight angles.

After a goalless first half, the game exploded into life in the final 20 minutes. The breakthrough came in the 78th minute when Joao Neves found Desire Doue in space outside the box.

The young Frenchman struck a superb low drive into the bottom right corner, giving Neuer no chance.

It was a deserved goal for Doue, who had been one of PSG’s most dangerous players on the night.

Tempers flared shortly after the opener. Within two minutes, Willian Pacho was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Leon Goretzka, reducing PSG to 10 men.

As Bayern pressed for an equaliser, Lucas Hernandez was also dismissed for violent conduct after a clash with Raphael Guerreiro in added time, leaving the hosts with nine men.

Bayern attempted to capitalise, pouring players forward, and came closest through a header from Goretzka that flashed just over the bar.

But PSG defended with grit and composure, and in the 96th minute, they landed the knockout blow. A blistering counter-attack saw Vitinha release Ousmane Dembele down the right, who cut inside and rattled the crossbar.

Moments later, he got a second chance, calmly slotting home from close range after being teed up by Achraf Hakimi to make it 2-0.

Despite a late VAR check for a potential Bayern penalty, the decision went PSG’s way, and the hosts saw out the remaining minutes to clinch a famous win.
