Brandi Cyrus has admitted that she was concerned with the speediness of mother Tish Cyrus‘ relationship with Aussie actor Dominic Purcell.
Brandi, 38, opened up about her worries on the Boyfriend Material podcast, telling Australian host Harry Jowsey that she encouraged her mum, 58, to slow down her relationship with the 55-year-old actor.
“I did tell you [that] you were rushing marriage a little bit,” she told Tish.

“It scared me. I’m like, ‘We just got out of one marriage, why are we jumping into another?’ It just freaked me out.”
Tish was previously married to country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, but they split in 2022 after nearly 30 years of marriage and three children together – Miley, 32, Braison, 30, and Noah, 25.
Billy Ray also adopted Tish’s two children from her previous marriage, Brandi and Trace, 36.

Tish soon moved on with the Prison Break actor, wedding him in 2023.
Jowsey commented that he was in favour of getting married quickly, but Brandi said that it may be more trouble than it seems.
“When you rush things, [then] you have to take a few steps backward and work through a bunch of s— that you skipped,” she explained.

Though Tish didn’t heed her warnings, Brandi said she was glad to see her mother happy.
After Tish shared that Miley was the most “encouraging” about her finding love after the split, Brandi commented, “I feel like you don’t like taking [Miley’s] dating advice,” before joking, “I feel like you like taking your own dating advice” – though she did admit it “got her” mum to where she was in her marriage.
Miley also previously shared how she felt seeing her parents pursue new love, telling The New York Times, “Now that my mum is so in love with my stepdad, who I completely adore, and now that my dad, I see him finding happiness, too – I can love them both as individuals instead of as a parental pairing,” adding that she’s “being an adult about it”.

“At first it’s hard, because the little kid in you reacts before the adult in you can go, ‘Yes, that’s your dad, but that’s just another person that deserves to be in his bliss and to be happy,'” she said of Billy Ray, who is currently dating actress and model Liz Hurley.
