Liverpool are reportedly planning to make a move for two defenders, Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace and Parma’s Giovanni Leoni. The Reds will try to secure both players this summer, who are both reportedly keen on joining.
Liverpool to Swoop for Guehi and Leoni
The Reds continue their spending spree in this summer transfer window as despite already spending more than 200 million pounds so far, they’re not done yet. Aside from dreaming of signing Alexander Isak, Liverpool are also hunting for new defenders to shore up their backline.
According to reports, including from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are eyeing both Marc Guehi and Giovanni Leoni. Liverpool are not pondering one between them but to get both players immediately in this summer transfer window.
Guehi only has one year left in his contract, so Palace are open to letting the player leave as he already rejected a contract extension from the Eagles. Meanwhile, despite playing fewer than 20 senior matches, Leoni has been impressing many top teams, especially in Serie A.
Not keen on losing out on the 18-year-old talent, Liverpool will try to prize up the young defender from Parma right away. Reports in Italy suggested that I Ducali would be open to letting the player leave for 40 million euros, a pretty huge sum for a young talent who hasn’t played much at the senior level.
However, Liverpool do have room to make such a bold move as they still have top-class defenders such as Virgil Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté. That’s why taking a shot at Leoni is something that the Reds can certainly afford, especially since finance is not an issue for them.
