Governor calls incident “horrific”
Governor Tim Walz, who was briefed on the unfolding situation, condemned the violence. Writing on X, he said: “I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence.”
Evacuations and heavy police presence
The school, founded in 1923, had been scheduled to hold its first all-school Mass of the year at 8:15 AM. Instead, frightened students, many in their green uniforms just days into the new academic term, were escorted out under the watch of police.
