The Punjabi entertainment industry is reeling from the shocking loss of singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda, who passed away on October 8 at Fortis Hospital, Mohali, at the age of 37. The beloved artist had been battling for his life for 11 days following a road accident in Himachal Pradesh on September 27, which left him with severe spinal injuries and brain damage. According to a hospital statement, he succumbed to multiple organ failure on Wednesday morning.
‘She told him not to go… but he didn’t listen’
In what has now emerged as a heartbreaking revelation, a close friend of the family shared Rajvir’s last conversation with his wife, who had pleaded with him not to go on the fateful bike trip. In an interview with Daily Post Punjab, the friend recalled, “She told him not to go… but he didn’t listen.” He added that Rajvir’s wife had specifically asked him not to ride his high-powered 1300cc motorcycle, fearing it was unsafe. Rajvir, however, had reassured her that he would return soon. “That phone call,” the friend said, “was their last conversation.”Despite his immense popularity, Rajvir was deeply private about his personal life. He never shared his wife’s name or photos on social media, choosing instead to keep his family life away from public attention.
Final journey home
Tributes have poured in from across the Punjabi music and film fraternity, with artists and fans expressing deep shock and sorrow. Social media has been flooded with condolence messages, celebrating Rajvir’s contributions to Punjabi entertainment and mourning a life cut tragically short. Rajvir Jawanda’s mortal remains have reached his native village, Pona, Ludhiana, where videos shared by Sirf Panjabiyat showed hundreds of fans gathering to pay their respects. His last rites will be performed on October 9 at 11 a.m. in Pona, near Jagraon, Punjab.
