    • She spoke to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe for a new interview
    • “I’ve definitely been in relationships before and thought I’ve been in love, but I’ve never loved like this,” said Lovato

Jordan “Jutes” Lutes brings joy to Demi Lovato‘s life.

In a new interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, the “Fast” singer got emotional as she opened up about married life with husband Jutes and how her love for him has only grown since they tied the knot in May.

“I’ve definitely been in relationships before and thought I’ve been in love, but I’ve never loved like this,” said Lovato, before pausing to express that she was “gonna cry” talking about their romance.

“I never knew that you could be with someone who your love could continue to grow for every single day,” continued the artist. “On the day that I got married, I was like, ‘Okay, this is it. I’m the most in love I’ve ever been in my life, and this is what it’s gonna be forever.’ And I was so wrong because it just has kept growing.”

Lovato explained, “It’s been five months since we got married, but I’m like, ‘Oh, I didn’t know it was possible to love you more than I did on our wedding day.’”

She then spoke about how Jutes helped inspire some of the material on her latest project. “The album is called It’s Not That Deep, but there are some deep songs on it, and one of which is ‘Ghost.’ It’s this song about being terrified to lose somebody because you love them so much,” she said.

The Grammy-nominated performer clarified, “And lose them in a sense of, like, talking about life and death. It still makes me emotional when I sing it because I feel it so much.”

Despite the album’s It’s Not That Deep title, Lovato said, “The emotions are still there.”,

She also compared their “evolving” love to another artist’s work. “It’s like that Brad Paisley song, ‘Then,'” said Lovato, before singing the 2009 country hit: “And I thought I loved you then…”

It’s Not That Deep was released on Friday, Oct. 24. Earlier this week, she announced a 2026 tour in support of the album.

In an interview with SiriusXM last month, Lovato opened up about Jutes learning to play the guitar to perform an original song for her while proposing on Dec. 16, 2023. “He did learn to play the song on guitar that he wrote, and it was so beautiful,” she said.

Lovato recalled, “He made a song that was about our journey together. It had all these little Easter eggs in it, and it was so special and beautiful, and he proposed to me with that, and it was just so thoughtful and he’s the best.”

She was “completely caught off-guard” by the proposal, as they’d previously discussed getting engaged the following year. “I was so shocked and I normally, I’m not like, normally I can sense when something’s coming, but I was so shocked about this,” she said.
