As British superband Oasis prepare to take the stage for two long-awaited concerts in Sydney this week, attention turns to the two former warring band members, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher
The duo had a famous fractious relationship, marked by arguments and physical fights, including a period of more than 15 years when they didn’t speak to each other before reconciling last year.
The brothers also enjoyed many high-profile relationships – none more so than that of Liam Gallagher and Nicole Appleton of girl band All Saints.
The two started dating straight after Liam’s relationship with former wife, actress Patsy Kensit ended in 1999, after news broke he had fathered a child with singer Lisa Moorish.
Gallagher had married Kensit at Marylebone Town Hall in London in 1997. Their union produced a son, Lennon, who was born in September 1999, before they split.
He wasted no time moving on with Appleton, and the two welcomed son Gene in July 2001.
Like Gallagher, she had risen to fame in a band alongside her sibling, sister Natalie Appleton.

The couple was together for eight years before they married on Valentine’s Day 2008 at the same venue as he and Kensit.
Like his previous relationships and marriage, their time together was marked by infidelity.
Gallagher later admitted to starting a long-running affair with US based journalist Liza Ghorbani from 2011 to 2012, which resulted in Ghorbani giving birth to a daughter in January 2013.
With British newspapers about to publish details of his love child, Gallagher was left with no choice but to confess to Appleton in 2013, and they separated.
In the weeks that followed, Appleton’s mother Mary claimed he hadn’t “bothered to call” his wife since then.
“He phoned her the day before it came out and he hasn’t been in touch since. She can’t get hold of him. She’s absolutely devastated,” she told media.
Appleton’s mother also revealed Gallagher was already in a relationship with his personal assistant Debbie Gwyther, whom he was photographed with in Ibiza.
“Nicole knows they are together. She has had it confirmed,” she said.
“We believe he’s just dumped Nicole and gone… I believe he doesn’t want to save the marriage.”
A court battle over their wealth followed, which also spilled details of their split.
Court papers tendered during their April 2014 divorce hearing included a sworn statement signed by Appleton, in which she stated Gallagher had admitted he committed adultery “prior to it becoming publicised in national newspapers”.
She said she first found out about the adultery on July 17, 2013.
A family court judge also revealed Gallagher only confessed to his wife once he learned the news was about to be made public, and that he broke the news in a phone call.
“The circumstances were extremely unfortunate. The wife was away on holiday and she was informed by telephone by the husband,” the judge told the court.
“Ms Appleton was greatly distressed, not only because of the earlier incident but also because of the breakdown of her relationship which was based upon prolonged deceit.”

In the first years that followed, Appleton maintained a dignified silence, but that changed in 2016 when her band released its song This Is A War, which was inspired by the split.
Another song, One Strike, was also inspired by the breakdown of the marriage.
Gallagher proposed to Gwyther in 2019, but they have never married.
Appleton married Stephen Haines in October 2021. They share one daughter, who was born in 2020.
Her son with Gallagher, Gene, is now 24 and a musician.
