App fraud case: ED flags Rs one crore paid to Jayasurya; actor says, ‘Everything is a lie’
Actor Jayasurya is reportedly under scrutiny by the Enforcement Directorate regarding a Rs 1 crore payment received in connection with the Save Box App fraud. The actor claims the funds were for his brand ambassador role and denies receiving any recent summons for further questioning, expressing dismay over what he calls false media reports.

Mollywood actor Jayasurya has stepped into a controversy related to an online auction app. According to the reports, the Enforcement Directorate has said that actor Jayasurya received a payment of around Rs one crore in the Save Box App deposit fraud case. The money came into the bank accounts of Jayasurya and his wife Saritha.According to Kerala Kaumudi, as per the findings, the amount came from companies linked to Swadiq Rahim.Reportedly, Swadiq Rahim is the main accused in the case. The ED says this payment is now part of their detailed examination. Reports say that they are checking the bank accounts of the actor and related transactions. The agency has also said that Jayasurya will be questioned again as part of the investigation.

Brand ambassador role and app background

Jayasurya has stated that the money he received was for his role as the brand ambassador of the Save Box App. Swadiq Rahim, who is from Thrissur, started the Save Box app in 2019. It was promoted as an online auction app and was described as the first of its kind in India.Swadiq had close links with people from the film industry and approached Jayasurya to promote the app. He was promised a payment of Rs 2 crore for the brand ambassador role. Many other film personalities were also involved in promoting the app. The fraud linked to the app came to light in 2023. Jayasurya was questioned twice in the case earlier. The statement of his wife Saritha was also recorded.

    Questioning and January 7 claim

According to the reports, the ED has said that the actor has been directed to appear again on January 7. At the same time, Jayasurya has strongly denied receiving any such summons. He said that he has not received any notice asking him to appear again on that date.He clarified that he had already appeared when summoned earlier. He said he appeared on the 24th after receiving a summons. He was then asked to appear again on the 29th, and he complied with that too. According to him, there has been no official summons after that.

    Jayasurya’s strong response

Jayasurya shared a long note on social media reacting to the reports. He wrote, “When spreading lies becomes media duty, I have been shocked for the past two days seeing the false stories being spread about me.”He added, “For the past two days, I have been hearing this only through TV channels. But till the moment I am writing this note, neither I nor my wife have received such a summons from the ED.”Speaking about endorsements, he said, “Can anyone today guess what kind of frauds people who approach us for advertisements or other needs might do tomorrow?”He also said, “I am just a responsible common citizen who carries out all financial activities only as per the law and pays accurate taxes to the public treasury.”Ending his note, he said, “When I see media, who are duty-bound to present facts to the people, falling to this level, all I can do is feel sad. A time when media feeds lies… what else can be said!”
