NEW DELHI: If thereâs one standout trend at this T20 World Cup so far, itâs Associate teams pushing full-member nations to the limit. It all began when, in the very first match of the tournament, the Netherlands almost got the better of Pakistan and had OâDowd not dropped the catch of Faheem Ashraf in the 19th over, the Dutchmen would have been in second place in Group A. But when they face Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, the Netherlands may have the edge after coming through a high-pressure, high-intensity game against Pakistan.âWhen we got off the bus in Delhi, coach Ryan Cook said the past is the past, thereâs nothing we can do about it, and we must look forward to the next game against Namibia,â Netherlands batter Colin Niel Ackermann said in a pre-match press conference on Monday. The Netherlands will eye opening their account on the points table as they went full throttle in pursuit of the same in their only practice session before the match on Tuesday.Meanwhile, Namibia are not a low-hanging fruit and would be a tough nut to crack. Led by Gerhard Erasmus, the Namibian team are a well-oiled machine. In their last T20 international match, Namibia defeated South Africa by four wickets. However, not getting to play any competitive international match thereafter could be a cause of concern. âWe played South Africa, which was four months ago (October 2025). We havenât had a competitive match since. We played Afghanistan in a warm-up,â the Namibian teamâs head coach Craig Williams told TimesofIndia.com on Sunday. The Netherlands would be jubilant with their performance against Pakistan. However, that match in Colombo also exposed some of their vulnerabilities. At 105/4 in the 13th over, the Netherlands were well positioned for a 160-plus total but lost five wickets for 42 runs as Pakistanâs spinners tightened the screws.Six of the Dutch batters fell to spinners, while Scott Edwardsâ men also missed their lengths consistently in the death overs.Namibia will take encouragement from those gaps and, with Indiaâs 2011 World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten in their support staff as a consultant, the Gerhard Erasmus-led side will fancy their chances.Namibia will bank on their leading run-getter and wicket-taker in T20Is. Gerhard Erasmus has 1,833 runs in 77 innings at an average of 32.15, while Bernard Scholtz has taken 79 wickets at an average of 19.79 and an economy of 6.18.The Netherlands and Namibia have come head to head in four completed T20Is so far, with the Netherlands holding a 3-1 advantage. Their latest encounter came in February 2024, when the Dutch posted 247 for 5 and went on to win the match by 59 runs.Namibia and the Netherlands are in Group A along with India, Pakistan and the United States. For both teams, the equation is simple. A win will keep their campaign on track, while a loss will reduce their room for error. The Netherlandsâ campaign might very well end if they lose.Namibia vs Netherlands: All you need to knowWhen: Tuesday, February 10, 11:00 AM ISTWhere: Arun Jaitley Stadium, New DelhiWhere to watch: Star Sports Network for live TV broadcast and JioHotstar for live streamingHead to head record:Total matches 5Namibia: 1Netherlands 3No result: 1Performance of both teams in their last 5 matches, respectivelyNamibia : W, W, W, L, WNetherlands : W, L, L, NR, LSquadsNamibia: Gerhard Erasmus (c), Zane Green, Bernard Scholtz, Ruben Trumpelmann, JJ Smit, Jan Frylinck, Louren Steenkamp, Malan Kruger, Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Jack Brassell, Ben Shikongo, JC Balt, Dylan Leicher, WP Myburgh, Max HeingoNetherlands: Scott Edwards (c), Colin Ackermann, Noah Croes, Bas de Leede, Aryan Dutt, Fred Klaassen, Kyle Klein, Michael Levitt, Zach Lion-Cachet, Max O’Dowd, Logan van Beek, Timm van der Gugten, Roelof van der Merwe, Paul van Meekeren, Saqib Zulfiqar
