Another bunch of encouraging updates has arrived as multiple Team India batters, including Ishan Kishan, have made forward moves in the ICC rankings for the Men’s T20 International format following the T20 World Cup 2026 triumph. The International Cricket Council, on March 11, revised the T20I rankings, with four Indian batters in the top 10.
Because of the previous whirlwind knocks, Abhishek Shamra remains on top of the batter’s chart in the Twenty20 format, while Ishan Kishan moved a couple of steps to capture the second spot of the ranking, right after Sharma. The other two Indian batters in the top ten ICC T20I batter rankings are Tilak Varma and Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav.
Rashid Khan overtook Varun Chakaravarthy in the ICC Men’s T20I Bowlers’ Rankings.
Varun Chakaravarthy sustained the blow as Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan took the first spot of the ICC Men’s T20I bowlers’ rankings, surpassing the Indian spinner, who had a tough time during the T20 World Cup 2026. Chakaravarthy is dropped to the second spot in the points table.
Your daily dose of cricket!
The rise of Ishan Kishan is no less than a fairytale. He was named in the T20I squad after almost three years. Before appearing during the India vs New Zealand T20I match on January 21, 2026, the top-order batter last played for the national team in the format on November 28, 2023.
From personal issues to mental health, injury problems, the keeper-batter suffered a lot when he was out of contention for the national team selection. Once, who was considered the next big thing in Indian cricket, started to vanish from the radar after being dropped from the BCCI’s central contract.
Ishan Kishan guided Jharkhand for their maiden SMAT trophy before making a comeback for Team India
He had to go back to domestic cricket to prove his mettle again. The BCCI selectors had no choice but to take a call on Ishan Kishan when he helped the Jharkhand state cricket team win the first-ever Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) by defeating Haryana by 69 runs in the final. In the final of the tournament, the southpaw smashed a century.
Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee made a bold decision by including Ishan Kishan in the squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, where he started as an opener along with Abhishek Sharma. When Sanju Samson was suffering from a bad patch, Kishan raised his hand to support the team.
In the group stage of the tournament, the batter scored half-centuries against Namibia and Pakistan in back-to-back matches. He got another half-century in the T20 World Cup 2026 final, against New Zealand.
