Joanna Gaines is proving that it's far from all work and no play when she's with husband Chip!
The Magnolia Network co-founder shared a glimpse of how she and her husband goof around when they're working on homes together in an Instagram Reel shared on Tuesday, June 2. The playful clip begins with Joanna attempting to balance on a 2×4 wooden plank as Chip watches her with an amused expression on his face.
After doing a few spins and leaning her body forward to show off her balancing skills, she then does a curtsy, which prompts her husband to try the same maneuvers after her.
"I can spin around," he says before he topples over, adding, "I get so dizzy."

After he spreads his arms out to find his balance, he then puts his hands together in an effort to focus. He eventually does a full spin and his wife says encouragingly in the background, "Good, good. That was your best one."
The cute video also included scenes of the couple, who just celebrated their 23-year wedding anniversary on May 31, teasing each other. At one point, Chip playfully throws a tennis ball at his wife as she tries to focus on balancing, followed by Joanna poking her husband's stomach.
"All work, no play… until a 2×4 becomes a balance beam," Joanna captioned the post, adding the hashtag "FixerUpper" in reference to the couple's hit home renovation franchise.
Chip and Joanna have been renovating homes together for more than two decades, and in 2024, they celebrated ten years of Fixer Upper.
In a video shared to Magnolia Network's YouTube channel on Thursday, May 28, Joanna opened up about how her design style has evolved and why she was first seen as a “farmhouse decorator.” The clip was originally from a 2022 episode of the network's anthology series, Point of View: A Designer Profile.

During the episode, she describes her Waco, Texas, farmhouse — which she and Chip bought around the same time that Fixer Upper debuted, she says — and explains how the design of her family home led people to categorize her under one specific style.
“[I was] starting to do more homes and honing in on what I love, and then Fixer Upper comes along,” she says. “The same time we started filming, we bought the farmhouse, and that's when it was like the first time my eyes were open to shiplap.”
“I think what happened along the way was, then my clients started seeing the farmhouse, and they're like, ‘We want shiplap, and we want white, and we want brown floors.' And so that part of our life was captured in that moment, and even now I'm coined as the farmhouse decorator,” she adds with a laugh.
She goes on to share that her own style reflects more than just the farmhouse design people associated her with, and she doesn't like to be confined to just one aesthetic.

“I think if people really knew me, one of the things that I'm really particular about is I don't want to be pegged with a specific design style,” she says. “The more and more you see my designs, you'll see that they evolve. Some are modern, some are old world.”
She concludes her reflection by noting that when it comes to her clients, however, it's not about her own style. She says, "It's about helping other people find theirs.”
