Recap of ‘House of the Dragon’ season 3, episode 7
After Rhaenyra assumed the Iron Throne at the beginning of the show, episode 7 shows her dealing with guilt and doubt as the battle nears its date. The latest episode also shows her discovering that the wild dragon Sheepstealer has found a rider for himself. She goes with her soldiers to find out who the rider is, only to discover Daemon at the site with Sheepstealer. During their confrontation, it is revealed that Daemon’s daughter, Rhaena Targaryen, has become the wild dragon’s rider, leaving Rhaenyra in shock. This is another part from the book that has been changed for the series. In George R.R. Martin’s book ‘Fire & Blood,’ which is set 200 years before the events of the ‘Game of Thrones’ series, Sheepstealer finds his rider in Nettles, a young girl from Hull on Driftmark. At Harrenhal, on the other hand, Alicent finds her son Aemond drunk with power and paranoia and serves him spiced wine laced with poisonous berries. With him unconscious, she finally makes a run for it and escapes. Daeron and Gwayne prepare for the upcoming battle, while Ormund successfully captures Corlys Velaryon to try and get Ulf onto his side before the battle. The final moment of episode 7 ends on a major note, with Aegon confronting the army in the woods, announcing his title as Sunfyre; his dragon is revealed to still be alive. With both of their faces half burned off because of Aemond’s attempt to kill them in the previous episode, Aegon lets out a scream as his dragon walks up behind him. The episode ends with Sunfyre burning the army at Aegon’s command as he continues to scream and laugh with pride.
What to expect from the final episode of ‘House of the Dragon,’ season 3 finale
While talking about the finale to Entertainment Weekly, director Nina Lopez-Corrado teased some important details about the upcoming episode. She shared that fans should brush up on their ‘GoT’ history. She further added, “We do deviate just a little bit in episode seven from what’s originally in the books and, personally, from a character standpoint, what Ryan [Condal, showrunner] and the writers did in terms of that really helped evolve the character storylines from what was in the books. I know that’s a very controversial thing to say for diehards, but I think some of the storylines that you’re going to see in season seven that’ll carry on into season eight were really executed strongly by the writers and also by the actors.”The final episode of the series is slated to end on quite a bloody note as everyone prepares for the historic Battle of Tumbleton. Aegon may be heading to Dragonstone after being reunited with his dragon, while Aemond may reunite with Vhagar after recovering from the poison that Alicent gave him.
