Taking a stand for the ‘Suits’ actress, Foster explained that he had specifically greeted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex 10 minutes before the red carpet segment even began. While talking to PEOPLE, the 76-year-old explained, “They both, graciously and selflessly, gave their time and went beyond to engage with everyone. Harry and Meghan are dear friends of mine. Anyone watching can see there was no awkward moment and certainly no snub.”Debate had started online about Foster and his interaction with Markle and Prince Harry. In the video shared online that went viral in no time, the Duke and Duchess were seen posing for the cameras on the red carpet as Foster walked past them. Moments later, in the video, he returned with his wife, Katharine McPhee, and the four shared a laugh in front of everyone as they posed together. Markle was also separately photographed with the ‘Scorpion’ actress. He continued, “It’s sad that certain media chose to deceive a red carpet encounter for clickbait. They turned simple ‘positioning’ to get the best photo into a hurtful lie.”The charity event was held to celebrate 40 years of Foster’s non-profit foundation that worked towards providing financial support to families in Canada needing life-saving transplants.

This is not the first time that the Grammy Award winner has been connected to the royal couple. The record producer and Harry have shared an almost “father-son-like” bond, according to McPhee during a conversation with Access Hollywood in 2020. She further shared, “My husband has a really, really beautiful relationship with Harry. They’re like, they’re so cute. They’re like father and son… We just stay in touch with them. But mostly, Meghan and I knew each other from childhood, but really Harry and my husband are friends. It’s really nice.”A year before, Foster had revealed that he had lent his Vancouver Island mansion to the royal couple to use. Talking to The Daily Mail, he revealed that he was pleased with helping the couple stay “off the radar” for so long. McPhee and Markle have known one another for years as they went to the same school. The two connected later in life and have remained close since then.
