Cause of Death Revealed for Emilie Kiser’s 3-Year-Old Son Trigg Over a Year After His Fatal Drowning

Police confirmed to PEOPLE that the toddler died on May 18, 2025, six days after he fell in their backyard pool

A cause of death for Emilie Kiser‘s son, Trigg, has been determined over one year after the 3-year-old tragically died.

According to the Maricopa County medical examiner’s report released on Tuesday, Aug. 25, Trigg died of anoxic brain injury due to drowning. His manner of death is listed as an accident, and the document states that the injury occurred after he “drowned in a residential pool.”

Trigg died on May 18, 2025, PEOPLE confirmed at the time. Chandler Police Department spokesperson Sonu Wasu said Trigg was hospitalized after authorities responded to a drowning call on May 12.

Emilie, 27, was not home at the time of the incident. Her husband Brady Kiser, 29, was watching their younger son, Teddy, now 17 months, when Trigg fell in their backyard pool.

Brady initially reported that he had lost sight of his son for three to five minutes before finding him in their pool. The Chandler Police Department (CPD) later said their video evidence showed that Trigg “was in the backyard unsupervised for more than nine minutes, and in the water for about seven of those minutes.”

After the CPD completed the investigation months later, they recommended that Brady be tried for a Class 4 felony charge of child abuse. However, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office ultimately said that Brady would not face charges, writing in a statement that there was “no likelihood of conviction” against the father.

Shortly after Trigg died, Emilie filed to seal records about his death. At the time of her request, over 100 requests had been filed for access to public records, and a source previously told PEOPLE that this included requests for footage of the 3-year-old’s fatal accident.

In her declaration from her original filing — which was later obtained by PEOPLE — Emilie referred to her absence at the time when Trigg drowned: “I will forever second guess that decision, among many others,” she stated.

She also acknowledged her extensive online presence, with millions of followers across platforms. However, she emphasized her enduring right to privacy.

“Our love for our children has been shared and expressed worldwide, given my role as a social media personality with many ‘followers’ across a number of social media platforms,” she said. “Nothing we have shared as part of my profession has depicted or been intended to depict anything but deep and adoring love within our Family. That is how it should stay forever in my mind and the minds of all others.”

This past July, Emilie and Brady announced that they are expecting another child together. In the caption of her social media post announcing her pregnancy, Emilie wrote, “My family’s privacy will always be my priority. Because of that, I’m not sure how much I will be sharing about this pregnancy and next phase of life, but I appreciate your understanding as I navigate those boundaries.”
