Scotland picked up their first three UEFA Nations League points of the campaign, and their first win under new boss Sebastien Pocognoli, as they ran out 2-0 winners over North Macedonia.

Kieron Bowie gave Scotland a seventh-minute lead in Skopje before John McGinn converted a penalty 20 minutes from time to secure an morale-boosting victory for the Tartan Army.

But they had to see out the last few minutes of the game with 10 men after Scott McKenna saw red following a challenge on Eljif Elmas.

It was, however, a dominant display from Scotland on the occasion of captain Andy Robertson’s 100th cap.

The result leaves Scotland third in the table, level on points with second-placed Slovenia, who fell 2-1 to Switzerland.

The Swiss maintained their perfect start to the group thanks to an Erik Janza own goal and Dan Ndoye. Zan Vipotnik had given Slovenia the lead inside the opening two minutes of the match.

    Finland maintain unbeaten start

Elsewhere, there was a resounding win for England over Croatia, while world champions Spain extended their impressive unbeaten run against Czechia.

Finland maintained their strong start to this season’s Nations League with a 2-1 victory over Albania.

Rey Manaj had given Albania the early lead before Etrit Berisha was given his marching orders mid-way through the first half.

The numerical advantage proved pivotal as Finland hit back courtesy of a brace from Leo Walta to give Jacob Friis’ men all three points.

They currently sit top of their group having accrued seven points from three games.

Meanwhile, Iceland saw off the challenge of Bulgaria with a 3-0 win. Orri Oskarsson netted two while Mikael Ellertsson added a third in stoppage time.

Belarus thumped San Marino 4-0 thanks to two goals from Artem Kontsevoy (2), Artem Shumansky and Max Ebong, while Estonia edged past Luxembourg courtesy of Rasmus Peetson, who grabbed the only goal of the game after five minutes.
