Is there a long-term fit for Josh Anderson in Montreal?
TSN: Montreal Canadiens GM Kent Hughes met before the season started with pending UFA forward Josh Anderson, and Anderson said he wants stay long-term, according to Darren Dreger.
“We know that Hughes and the Habs have been actively trying to acquire a forward. So that’s been their priority. They are going to get into extension negotiations, I would expect sooner rather than later.
But here’s also something that’s noteworthy. He’s represented by Darren Ferris. And Darren Ferris is a player agent who likes to march his top clients as close to July 1st or past July 1st as he can. And that is not the plan of the Canadiens, and it sounds like Anderson wants to stay.”

Will the love from Montreal Canadiens fans change Dylan Larkin’s feelings towards Montreal?
Daily Faceoff: David Pagnotta, when asked about the Montreal Canadiens fans chanting for Dylan Larkin, and if that means anything for Larkin. Could that help change his mind? It wouldn’t take long for the Canadiens to do a deal with the Detroit Red Wings if Larkin would okay a deal.

Marek: “Wrong. There’s 20,032 because there were 20,000 GMS at the Bell Centre in Montreal saying ‘We want Larkin.’ Does that change anything, or was it just fun?
Pagnotta: “I think both. Like it was definitely fun, and kudos to the fan base for doing that. That was awesome.
Marek: “Yeah, that was great.”
Pagnotta: “But it, it shows, I think it showed Dylan Larkin and his family a little bit of what the taste would be like in that market. And he touched on it as as as nicely as he can put it, as, as he didn’t want to dive too much into it. Their most passionate fan base and this, that, and the other.
NHL Rumors: San Jose Sharks, and the Philadelphia Flyers
But to see that, and the longer this goes, because Montreal, I can tell you, Montreal, if, if, if Detroit calls up Kent Hughes, Montreal’s GM, and says, ‘All right, Lark’s is willing to come to, come to Montreal.’ It’s going to take maybe an hour. They just got to do the paperwork.
I think Montreal has an offer that they’re ready to present to Detroit that they believe will either get them right to the finish line, or over the finish line, to make something like that happen.”
