Did Drake miss an opportunity to hop on the “Spend Dat” remix?
On Friday, Oct. 23, Yung Miami revealed she reached out to the “Shabang” rapper in the hopes that he would join her on the remix of her hit song — but allegedly never heard back.
“Drake left me on read, I don’t know. I’m like, ‘Drake, what did I do?’ I love Drake. I f—ing love Drake,” Yung Miami (born Caresha Brownlee) said in an appearance on Hot 97.
The 32-year-old rapper continued, “Just tell me no. I’m good with a no, but leaving me on read?”
Despite not hearing back, Yung Miami clarified she still has love and respect for the “One Dance” rapper, 39, and didn’t take it “personal.”
“I just respect Drake. Drake is Drake, period,” the former City Girls member said. “I’ve always been a Drake fan, always gave him his flowers, personally love Drake, never rode the hate train. I personally love him, but I get it. When you go through things in the industry, that s— will make you look at everybody differently.”
A rep for Drake did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Yung Miami first released “Spend Dat” in April, and a remix featuring Kodak Black and Lil Baby came out in August.

She first collaborated with Drake when she was still a member of the hip-hop duo City Girls with JT. Together, they were featured on his 2018 song “In My Feelings.”
In June, Yung Miami went on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast and revealed she also tried to get Drake on “Take Me to Chanel,” which was released on Oct. 23 as “TMTC” with features from Quavo and G Herbo.
“I remember DMing him, but that’s at the time when he was going through all his s—. And when people are going through their s—, like, I get it. I understand. It’s just like, ‘I gotta focus on me right now,’ because these people trying to take me out. I can understand that, so I didn’t take it personally,” she said at the time.
“I was like, ‘Drake, I think you would sound good on ‘Take Me to Chanel.’’ He just liked the thing. He just liked the message,” she recalled. “I’m like, ‘Come on now, don’t do that, Drake. Don’t do that now. Because when you called me, I was there.’ But nah, I f— with Drake. I understand.”
Yung Miami released a new album titled Watch Dis! on Friday, Oct. 23.
