A young garland seller from Indore, who gained viral fame at the Mahakumbh Mela 2025 for her striking resemblance to the Mona Lisa, has been forced to return home after experiencing harassment and being chased by crowds. Monalisa Bhonsle’s captivating “amber eyes and dusky skin” initially captivated online viewers after a video of her was shared on social media. However, this sudden fame led to unwanted attention at the religious gathering.
Videos circulating online show Bhonsle being overwhelmed by crowds of men attempting to get close to her and take pictures. In one particularly distressing clip, she’s seen trying to escape the throng, with family members intervening to protect her. The incident culminated in her sitting down, visibly distressed, and covering her face.
According to reports, the intense attention negatively impacted her business, making it difficult for her to sell garlands. Her father subsequently decided it was best for her to return home. Bhonsle’s younger sister confirmed this, stating that the constant pursuit made it impossible for her sister to work.
Despite the negative experience, Bhonsle continues to share videos on her Instagram page, showcasing her life before and after her viral fame. In one post, she addresses rumors of having earned significant money from her online popularity, clarifying that this was not the case.
