Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) coach Adam Griffith has been appointed as Cricket Australia’s new pace bowling coach. The former Tasmania cricketer will work closely with the next generation of quick bowlers in the men’s teams, and his role will be crucial in shaping the Australia national cricket team.

Griffith will move to Brisbane to start his new role at Cricket Australia’s National Cricket Centre after stepping down from his assistant coach position with Victoria. He has previously worked with the Australian men’s team during bilateral tours in 2012 and 2016 and at the 2019 ODI World Cup in England.

I’m Delighted Adam Griffith Will Bring His Extensive Experience – Andrew McDonald

Australian coach Andrew McDonald is excited about Adam Griffith’s appointment as the National Pace Bowling Coach. He stated that Griffith’s wealth of experience and expertise will be crucial in developing and preparing pace bowlers for Australia’s men’s teams across all formats.

“I’m delighted Adam will bring his extensive experience to Cricket Australia as National Pace Bowling Coach and become an important part of our coaching set up,” McDonald said in a statement.

“Adam’s expertise across all formats will be invaluable in the preparation of pace bowlers for Australia’s national men’s teams.”

The Australia cricket team will be next seen in action during the upcoming two-match Test series against the Sri Lanka cricket team. Australia has already advanced to the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final, which is set to take place against South Africa from June 11 to 15 at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Adam Griffith Served as Bowling Coach for Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Adam Griffith’s tasks will include leading the development of pace bowlers, overseeing the national pace bowling preparations, and providing coaching support to both the Australian men’s team and Australia A.

Griffith, a former Sheffield Shield winner with Tasmania, has 169 wickets from 50 first-class matches. After retiring in 2011, Adam Griffith gained extensive coaching experience, starting with Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers.

He later returned to Tasmania as head coach of the Tigers and Hobart Hurricanes and became the state’s Director of Coaching. Griffith joined Victoria’s men’s team under Chris Rogers in 2022. He also worked as the bowling coach for Royal Challengers Bengaluru before the franchise made changes to their staff.

Australia’s Pace Bowling Lineup Undergoing Transition

Australia’s pace bowling lineup is going through a transition period. Key players such as Mitchell Starc (34), Josh Hazlewood (34), and Pat Cummins (31) are in the later stages of their careers, with Scott Boland and Michael Neser also 35 and 34, respectively.

Among those on the fringes of the Test squad and the white-ball squads, Nathan Ellis is 30, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith are 28, and Spencer Johnson, a left-arm bowler, is 29. Lance Morris and Xavier Bartlett are both 26, Sean Abbott is 32, and young rising star Fergus O’Neill from Victoria is 24.

Pace bowling all-rounder Cameron Green and Victorian Will Sutherland are both 25, while Jack Edwards from New South Wales is 24.
