AIIMS CRE-5 re-exam hit by technical glitches in Jaipur, candidates protest; fresh test promised

A re-examination conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for recruitment to Group B and Group C non-academic posts was disrupted by technical problems at an examination centre in Jaipur on Monday, August 31. The disruption forced candidates to walk out of the venue and stage a protest, highlighting renewed concerns over the reliability of computer-based examinations. The affected centre was the iON Digital Zone examination facility in Sitapura, where the Common Recruitment Examination-5 (CRE-5) re-examination was being held.According to Sanganer Sadar police, AIIMS has cancelled the examination at the centre and will conduct a fresh test for the affected candidates after a few days.

AIIMS CRE-5 exam delayed, server crashes

Candidates had arrived at the Jaipur centre for the examination scheduled from 9 AM to noon. However, the test did not begin on time because of technical difficulties. The situation was compounded by power outages at the centre. With candidates unable to continue the computer-based test normally, frustration mounted inside the examination venue. The repeated interruptions ultimately led candidates to leave the centre and gather outside in protest. The incident was reported by PTI, which cited the local police as the source of information.

AIIMS cancels exam at affected centre

The disruption has resulted in the cancellation of the examination at the Jaipur centre. According to the police, AIIMS has assured candidates that a fresh examination will be conducted after a few days. The development is particularly significant because the examination was itself a re-examination for recruitment to Group B and Group C non-academic posts under CRE-5.AIIMS conducts CRE examinations through computer-based testing, making stable servers, uninterrupted electricity, and functioning computer systems critical to the examination process. Any failure at these levels can directly affect candidates who have spent months preparing for a recruitment examination. The institute is yet to indicate the exact date for the fresh examination at the affected centre, based on the information currently available.

Jaipur centre faced another exam disruption a day earlier

Monday’s AIIMS recruitment examination disruption came just a day after the same examination centre was in the spotlight over problems during the NEET-PG 2026 examination.Candidates appearing for NEET-PG at the iON Digital Zone centres in Sitapura reported technical and power-related problems during Sunday’s examination. Police said the online test was disrupted following a server outage, with candidates reporting that their computer screens repeatedly stopped functioning. The disruption led several candidates to leave the examination rooms and protest outside the centre. The back-to-back incidents have placed the functioning of the Sitapura examination facility under scrutiny, particularly because candidates appearing for high-stakes examinations depend entirely on the centre’s technical and power infrastructure to complete their tests.

NEET-PG affected candidates to get another chance

The NEET-PG disruption had already prompted the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to announce a re-examination for candidates whose tests could not be completed.NBEMS has officially notified a NEET-PG 2026 re-examination for affected candidates at the iON Digital Zone Sitapura centres, test centre numbers 41,682 and 41,683. The notice was published on August 30.The fresh examination is scheduled to be held in Jaipur on September 5 at 3 pm for the candidates affected by the disruption.According to the information cited in the report, NBEMS attributed the failure at the two centres to internal power problems and identified the examination-conducting agency as TCS Ltd.The official NBEMS notice board confirms that the re-examination was announced specifically for candidates affected at the two Sitapura centres.(With inputs from PTI)
