Anna Wintour has finally addressed the elephant in the room, opening up about her thoughts on The Devil Wears Prada.
The former Vogue Editor-in-Chief spoke about her reaction to the film, which is loosely based on author Lauren Weisberger’s short stint as an assistant to Wintour, on The Run-Through with Vogue Podcast.
Host David Remnick asked Wintour if she was “hurt” by the film when it was first released.

“Well, I went to the premiere wearing Prada,” the fashion icon said. “Completely having no idea what the film was going to be about.”
“And I think that the fashion industry [was] very sweetly concerned for me about the film that it was gonna paint me in some kind of difficult light.”
Remnick added that her character came off a bit “cartoonish.”
”Yes. A caricature. Yeah. But first of all, it was Meryl Streep (playing Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief), which — fantastic,” Wintour said.
“And then I went to see the film, and I found it highly enjoyable and very funny.”

She said she had discussed the movie with her friend, and they decided that the movie did what it set out to do.
Vogue’s former big boss said she held no hard feelings over the film.
“I think, listen, it had a lot of humor to it. It had a lot of wit. It had Meryl Streep… It was Emily Blunt, I mean, they were all amazing. And I, in the end, thought it was a fair shot,” she said.
The host also jokingly asked if Wintour was ”actually thrilled when assistants move at a glacial pace,” quoting a famous line from the flick.
“Nobody at Vogue moves at a glacial pace, least of all my assistants,” Wintour replied.

The podcast comes after Wintour stepped back from her role as editor-in-chief, a position she held for 37 years.
It also happens that The Devil Wears Prada 2 is currently being shot in New York.
The magazine announced last week that the former editor of Vogue.com will be taking over from Wintour.
Wintour will continue to work for Vogue’s parent company Condé Nast, as the company’s global chief content officer, as well as stepping into the role of global editorial director at Vogue.
