Ashwani Kumar, on Monday (May 26), redeemed himself by taking a fine catch to dismiss Prabhsimran Singh during the ongoing match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Chasing 185 runs in the must-win clash, Punjab Kings openers – Prabhsimran and Priyansh Arya – made a cautious start. At the end of the third over, the score was 18/0. With only three more overs remaining in the powerplay, Prabhsimran decided to up the ante in the fourth ball bowled by Deepak Chahar.

On the first ball of the over, Prabhsimran hit Chahar for a six over fine-leg with a scoop. It was followed by a dot delivery before the Punjab Kings opener hit a four. On the fourth ball of the over, Mumbai Indians nearly had a breakthrough as Chahar drew a miscue from Prabhsimran, only for Ashwani Kumar to drop the catch at mid-wicket.
Prabhsimran was on 12 runs at that time. Fortunately for Mumbai Indians and Ashwani Kumar, the drop did not prove costly as the Punjab star was dismissed in the very next over. Prabhsimran could add only one more run before being dismissed.
He was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah on the second ball of the fifth over. Bumrah bowled a full delivery outside off, and Prabhsimran stepped out in an attempt to hit the ball over mid-off. However, he ended up miscuing the shot before Ashwani came charging in from third man and took a brilliant catch to make amends for his earlier mistake.

Talking about the match, Punjab Kings were on 61/1 after 7 overs at the time of writing this report. Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis were batting in the middle for the Shreyas Iyer-led side.
Earlier in the game, Mumbai Indians finished their innings on 184/7 in 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav top-scored for the five-time champions, scoring 57 runs off 39 balls with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes.
