Following disappointing performances in recent bilateral series, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has arranged a training camp at the ICC Academy in Dubai. The camp will help the national team prepare for two upcoming tournaments, a tri-nation T20 series against Afghanistan and the UAE, and the Asia Cup 2025.
Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in September despite political tensions between India and Pakistan, with all matches hosted in the UAE until September 28. Pakistan will play in Group A alongside India, Oman, and the UAE, while Group B includes Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong.
Pakistan Begins Asia Cup 2025 Preparations with Tri-Nation T20I Series in Sharjah
Pakistan will kick off their Asia Cup preparations with a tri-nation T20I series in Sharjah, starting on August 29 against Afghanistan. It provides Pakistan an opportunity to fine-tune their skills and rotate the squad, with the possibility of including two or three new players.

Pakistan could play up to five matches before the Asia Cup, which is scheduled from September 9 to 28 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The tri-series will help the team gain match practice and build momentum heading into the main tournament.
Notably, the Men in Green had a disappointing tour of the West Indies. Pakistan won the T20I series 2-1 and the opening ODI but lost the last two ODIs. The West Indies secured their first ODI series win over Pakistan since 1991.
PCB to Start UAE Training Camp on August 22 Ahead of Key Tournaments
According to Revsportz, the Pakistan Cricket Board will begin a training camp on August 22 to help the team adapt to UAE conditions ahead of two key tournaments.

The tri-nation T20I series in Sharjah, featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE, will start on August 29 and conclude on September 7. The tournament follows a double round-robin format, with each team playing the others twice, and the top two sides advancing to the final.
Pakistan will open their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against Afghanistan, and the PCB may rotate the squad during the series. The camp will also assist the board in finalizing the participation of key players, including Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, for the Asia Cup.
Recently, Pakistan lost a T20I series to 10th-ranked Bangladesh and suffered an ODI series defeat to an under-strength West Indies side, despite fielding stars like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah.
Pakistan Shifts Attention to Asia Cup 2025 Following Tri-Nation T20I Series
After the tri-nation T20I series, Pakistan will shift its focus to the Asia Cup 2025. The tournament, initially uncertain due to tensions between the PCB and BCCI, will feature eight teams.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman, and the UAE will compete for the coveted trophy. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage.
Pakistan will begin its campaign against Oman on September 12, while the highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash is set for September 14. The Asia Cup opener will take place on September 9, with Afghanistan facing Hong Kong in Dubai.
PCB plans to field a full-strength squad, hoping to leverage the team’s preparation from the UAE training camp ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 and their performance in the tri-nation series to make a strong impact in the tournament.
