How leading universities are preparing the future workforce with digital and human skills
By Marni Baker Stein As online enrollment outpaces on-campus programs at nearly half of U.S. institutions, universities are continuing expanding their online catalogs. The 200+ universities on Coursera recently reached a major milestone, amassing more than 200 million course enrollments. Below, discover how universities around the world are meeting the demand with top courses that teach job-relevant skills, like GenAI and project management, as well as foundational subjects, like…
In 1973, an author named Alan Lakein published a book titled How to Get Control of Your Time and Your Life. It wasn’t the first book about professional time management — my library contains a first edition of James McCay’s 1959 classic, The Management of Time — but it’s arguably the first book to talk about the topic in a recognizably modern way, with a focus on personalized tools like daily to-do lists. It went on to reportedly sell more than three million copies, and was even shouted out by Bill Clinton, who cites its influence on his early career…

Sundance 2025: Sabar Bonda (Cactus Pears), DJ Ahmet, André Is an Idiot | Festivals & Awards
Unlike the rest of the dispatches I’ve written out of Sundance, the selections here are not defined by their competitive category. This one is a little bit more of a hodgepodge. “Sabar Bonda (Cactus Pears)” and “DJ Ahmet,” for instance, are from the World Dramatic section, while “André Is an Idiot” premiered as part of the US Documentary competition. I should’ve been mixing it up from the beginning because, in my opinion, the trio of films here are the strongest I’ve written about all fest. A sensual, tender queer romance, writer/director Rohan Kanawade’s semi-autobiographical feature debut “Sabar Bonda (Cactus Pears)”…
Man, we are already to the end of January and the month flew by. Luckily for you, we have another large batch of releases for you to peruse. I thought about the W.A.S.P. box set but at $126 for the CD and $250 for the Vinyl, not sure I’m that big a fan. Other than that, I don’t really have anything I want to grab…maybe stream only. Let me know what you want to hear this week or what we may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.
The latest inflation data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis largely confirm market expectations. The Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index (PCEPI), which is the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation, grew at a continuously compounding annualized rate of 3.1 percent in December 2024, up from 1.5 percent in the prior month. PCEPI inflation has averaged 2.2 percent over the last six months and 2.5 percent over the last twelve months. Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, was also in line with expectations. Core PCEPI grew at a continuously compounding annualized rate of 1.9 percent in December 2024,…

Virat Kohli made his much-awaited return to domestic cricket in the Ranji Trophy, but it was Delhi‘s all-around performance that took center stage as they secured a comprehensive victory over Railways. Despite Kohli’s modest contribution with the bat, the team’s bowlers and middle-order batters ensured a dominant win.Railways’ struggle in the first inningsRailways were dismissed for just 241 runs in their first innings, with Upendra Yadav being the top scorer for them with 95 runs. Other notable contributions came from Karn Sharma, who also smashed a fifty. Delhi’s bowlers, particularly Siddhant Sharma and Navdeep Saini, made regular breakthroughs. Siddhant claimed…
