Ayo Edebiri Shines in Silver Look on NAACP Image Awards Red Carpet

Ayo Edebiri turned up the shimmer at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards.

The Bear actress, 29, wore an eye-catching silver gown while walking the red carpet at the event held at the Pasadena Civic Center in California on Saturday, Feb. 22. Her stylish look featured a halter detail at the neck, ruching down the center and small, glittery gems.

Edebiri accessorized with open-toe metallic heels and stud earrings.

The actress went all out with her glam, trading her signature natural makeup look for dramatic silver eye shadow with a smokey finish and a brown lip. Her straight hair cascaded down her back as she also rocked curtain bangs.

It’s a big night for Edebiri, who clinched five nominations — which is the most out of any other performer at this year’s NAACP award show — for acting and directing in The Bear, for guest-hosting Saturday Night Live and for her voiceover work in Inside Out 2.

Like her many different characters, the actress has tapped into several various styles for previous award shows. For this year’s Golden Globes, she channeled Julia Roberts in a custom Loewe outfit consisting of an oversized gray suit jacket with structured shoulders, matching loose-fitting pants, a gray shirt and black loafers. 

Stylist Danielle Goldberg noted the inspiration behind the outfit on her Instagram Stories, writing alongside a side-by-side photo of Edebiri in her Golden Globes look next to Roberts wearing an almost identical Armani suit at the 1990 Golden Globes, “Important.” 

During the 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards in September 2024, where Edebiri took home the award for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series, she opted for a more feminine and colorful look in a Bottega Veneta strapless design (from the pre-spring ’25 collection).

Speaking to Laverne Cox on E!’s pre-show, Edebiri said of her mosaic-like design: “It was perfect as soon as I saw the sketches. Danielle Goldberg, my stylist, said it was really reminiscent to her of Gaetano Pesce, this amazing Italian artist who just passed away. And for me, I’m also getting Nollywood vibes.”

Other stars nominated at the NAACP Image Awards include Cynthia Erivo, Keke Palmer, Kendrick Lamar, Kevin Hart and Shannon Sharpe.
