Bardot singer Katie Underwood has spoken out after the band’s reunion at Sydney’s Mighty Hoopla festival, revealing she’s been subjected to “online bullying”.
The singer, 50, shared a video on her official Instagram page following Saturday’s performance, the Aussie girl group’s first in more than two decades, on the brink of tears.
Underwood said while she’s received mostly positive comments about the reunion, some have been negative.

“I want to say that my time in Sydney with Bardot on the weekend was overwhelmingly positive, most of the comments online have been overwhelmingly positive and supportive and I want to thank every person that I met and every person that I’ve interracted with online after the show,” she said.
“Since the show, I have been targeted by misogynistic abuse … in this case, it’s [from] gay men.”
Underwood said one comment claimed she was acting like “a complete moll” backstage.

Underwood said she had wanted a soundcheck and a microphone backstage before the show, and described how hectic it was.
“The moment you put that thought on the page, online, it’s online bullying. Don’t f–king kid yourself, that’s exactly what it is,” she said in a message to those posting negative comments.
She then told the “bullies” they will be “blocked” from her account for bullying comments.
“If this continues, there’s no f–king way I’m doing a [Bardot] tour if this is the s–t I’m going to have to put up with,” she added, holding back tears.
“Just because half an hour before our first show in f–king 25 years, heaven forbid I get a little stressed and don’t have a pleasing face and an acceptable social manner.”
Bardot, consisting of Underwood, Belinda Chapple, Sophie Monk, Sally Polihronas and Tiffani Wood (who replaced original member Chantelle Barry), formed in 2000 after they were discovered on the now-defunct series Popstars
After several hit songs, they disbanded in 2002.
They announced four of the band’s members were reuniting after 23 years for the Mighty Hoopla Festival, which took place over the weekend in Bondi.

“After 23 years, we’re stepping back on stage together for the first time,” Chapple wrote on Instagram as she announced the news.
“Bardot is reuniting at Mighty Hoopla on Feb 21 at Bondi Beach, and I honestly don’t have the words… only feelings.
“Thank you for all the love. Can’t wait to share this moment with you. Get your twinkle toes ready.”
