Bayern Munich slumped to their first Bundesliga loss of the season as Augsburg came from behind to claim a stunning 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena.
Hiroki Ito’s close-range header gave Bayern the lead in the 23rd minute, but they were undone by two goals in the space of six minutes late in the second half.
However, Arthur Chaves levelled when he converted from Mert Komur’s corner in the 75th minute, before Han-Noah Massengo slotted home what proved to be the winner from Dimitris Giannoulis’ pull back at the end of a fine Augsburg move.
Michael Olise was denied a sensational equaliser at the death as his curling long-range effort struck the crossbar, Bayern suffering a defeat that and seeing their lead at the top cut to a still commanding eight points over Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund cut Bayern lead
Dortmund ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at Union Berlin thanks to Emre Can’s first-half penalty, Nico Schlotterbeck’s far-post header and a late strike from Maximilian Beier.
Lucas Vazquez scored the only goal of the game as Bayer Leverkusen beat Werder Bremen 1-0. Third-placed Hoffenheim won 3-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt, while fourth-placed RB Leipzig were 3-0 winners at Heidenheim.
Mainz moved out of the bottom two with a 3-1 victory over Wolfsburg.
Nwaneri stars on Marseille debut
Marseille did arch rivals Paris Saint-Germain a big favour as they saw off Lens 3-1 to preserve PSG’s place at the top of Ligue 1.
PSG leapfrogged surprise package Lens with a 1-0 win at Auxerre on Friday, and the unlikely title challengers were well beaten at the Stade Velodrome as they failed to respond.
Amine Gouiri opened the scoring in the third minute for Marseille, before on-loan Arsenal forward Ethan Nwaneri marked his debut with a goal 10 minutes later, bending into the bottom-left corner from the edge of the area.
Gouiri’s second made the game safe, before Rayan Fofana scored a late consolation for Lens, who are now two points behind PSG.
Elsewhere in Ligue 1, Monaco were held to a 0-0 draw at Le Havre, Lorient moving above the Principality club and into the top half with a 2-0 win over Brittany neighbours Rennes.
Como hit Torino for six
Como continue to be one of the stories of the season in Serie A, and Cesc Fabregas’ men moved up to fifth on Saturday with a thumping 6-0 win over Torino.
Anastasios Douvikas scored twice in the rout, while Martin Baturina, Lucas Da Cunha, Nicolas Gerrit-Kuhn and Maxence Caqueret were also on target.
Third-bottom Fiorentina suffered a damaging 2-1 home defeat to Cagliari. Fellow strugglers Lecce held Lazio to a 0-0 draw.
Madrid go top of LaLiga
Real Madrid moved top of LaLiga with a 2-0 win over Villarreal, piling the pressure on Barcelona ahead of their meeting with Oviedo.
Surprise Champions League challengers Espanyol lost 3-2 at Valencia, who dramatically claimed all three points through Largie Ramazani’s 94th-minute penalty. Ramazani calmly converted after Lucas Beltran was brought down by Ruben Sanchez.
Akor Adams’ penalty gave Sevilla a 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao, and Osasuna scored twice in injury time to win 3-1 at Rayo Vallecano.
