B-Stock’s internship program launched in 2021, and since then, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming and working with over 30 interns! From Finance and Product to Engineering and Marketing, our interns have left their mark across all of B-Stock and its employees. What’s more, we’ve come to know them as drivers of measurable impact and innovation.
The 10-week program, offered virtually and in-person, has brought in top talent from universities around the country. As part of their internship, each intern gets assigned a project or projects and has a dedicated manager to guide them through their projects. They also get to collaborate with team members across their respective departments to learn the inner workings.
In true B-Stock fashion, we also set aside plenty of time for play. Every summer, specially curated events and activities are held for our interns, providing even more opportunities to engage with the rest of the company! Our summer teammates have participated in various virtual activities, such as pizza and pretzel making, trivia, social happy hours, wellness sessions, alumni panels, and even baseball excursions.

From Intern to Employee, Meet Julia!
We sat down with Julia Attard, People Operations Assistant, to hear more about how she transitioned from summer intern to full-time employee.
Julia’s journey began with B-Stock’s first cohort of interns (Summer 2021), working in the Marketing department. Many of the skills she used during that time translate to her work ethic today leading our People Ops programs and organizing upcoming internship functions.
One of her biggest learnings while interning? Resourcefulness. Here’s what Julia had to say:
“Since I work directly with new hires now, I’m helping them with their new hire onboarding and welcoming them to the Company on their first day. I’m supporting them by providing on-hand resources and sharing my recommendations to help them succeed during their first week at B-Stock.”
We’re so happy that Julia remains a part of the B-Stock family–and she’s not alone! We’ve had a handful of former interns join the ranks who continue to thrive at the company.
It Takes a Village (And Really Good Recruiting)
Interns work closely with their managers throughout the duration of the program. As such, we asked Vajira Nissanka, UX Director and former intern manager, to speak to his experience during our Summer 2024 program.
Q: What do you find most rewarding about managing interns?
The most rewarding aspect is seeing their growth and being able to deliver production-quality designs despite the lack of work experience. Basically, seeing them do impactful work for the company and thereby gaining both experience and confidence to grow their career beyond B-Stock.
Q: What do you hope for your interns (or any) to take away during their B-Stock internship experience?
My hope, more than anything, is that they feel confident about their skills by the time they finish the internship program. For that to happen, they need to see and understand that they do impactful work – and the more initiative they take during the program, the more impactful work they’d be assigned and complete. We have been lucky that we had many interns who delivered many key features for our product.

Q: How does recruiting interns differ from hiring for full-time roles?
For many interns, I am the first recruiter that they’ve ever worked with. I take tremendous responsibility to ensure that I leave them with a positive impression of recruiters.
Q: From the start of the program to now, have you seen any trends in hiring for interns?
Artificial Intelligence (ChatGPT, etc.). This generation of interns is directly impacted by AI. It is up to them to be responsible stewards of such technologies and to forge a path forward that positively impacts the world.
Q: What’s the most rewarding part of being an intern recruiter?
Changing a person’s life for the better. It’s what helps me sleep at night, knowing that I am directly impacting the trajectory of their professional lives.
