Charlie Sheen‘s Two and a Half Men co-star Jon Cryer revealed a major source of the tension between the on-screen brothers.
The 60-year-old actor opened up about the issues occuring behind-the-scenes in the recent Netflix documentary, aka Charlie Sheen.
The star shared that unequal pay between the two leads and Sheen’s tumultuous personal life led to high tensions.

“He’s in the midst of falling apart in every way that I can imagine, and he’s renegotiating his contract for another year of a show that I’m supposed to be on too,” Cryer said.
He then compared the situation to North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il, the predecessor of Kim Jong Un.
“The dictator of North Korea was a guy named Kim Jong-Il. He acted crazy all the time and thus got enormous amounts of aid from countries who were so scared of him that they would shovel money at him,” Cryer said.

“Well, that’s what happened here. [Sheen’s] negotiations went off the charts because his life was falling apart. Me, whose life was pretty good at that time, I got a third of that,” he added.
The show ran from 2003, starring Sheen as hedonistic jingle writer Charlie Harper and Cryer as his uptight brother Alan, with Angus T. Jones playing his son Jake and filling out the other “half” man.
In 2011, after Sheen entered drug rehabilitation and called the show’s creator Chuck Lorre a “clown” and a “stupid, stupid man”, he was killed off the show and replaced with Ashton Kutcher, who played a billionaire who purchased the house after Charlie’s death.

Cryer also admitted that Sheen’s reputation almost put him off participating in the documentary.
“If you wonder what it’s like to work with Charlie Sheen for eight years, when I started, I had hair,” Cryer said.
“I had some trepidation about participating in this, partially because part of the cycle of Charlie Sheen’s life has been that he messes up terribly, he hits rock bottom, and then he gets things going again … He just can’t help but set that house on fire,” he added.

Sheen later told People that though Cryer was the only person he didn’t personally contact to participate in the documentary, he ”can’t debate anything” his former co-star said about him.
