Microsoft has introduced a visual character called Mico to represent its artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, Copilot.
This new addition was presented during the company’s recent Copilot event.
Mico acts as a visual interface that reacts to user interactions, which changing color and expression based on conversations.

The name “Mico” comes from “Microsoft Copilot”. It is designed to appear more approachable and to help users feel more connected to the AI.
The avatar is available by default when using voice features in Copilot. Those who prefer not to use it can turn it off. For now, it is only being released in the US, Canada, and the UK.
An interesting detail is that if users tap Mico several times, it turns into Clippy, the well-known assistant from older versions of Microsoft Office.
Microsoft also plans to make Copilot more useful in learning. A feature called “Learn Live” will allow the AI to guide users through topics step by step, rather than just answering questions directly.
This feature is currently available only in the US. Improvements have also been made in how the AI handles health questions and deeper research topics.
