ROHTAK : The 44th Inter-Zonal Youth Festival “Unifest-25”, organized by the Students’ Welfare Committee of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, was inaugurated with great enthusiasm and grandeur today at the Tagore Auditorium. The three-day festival (November 11–13, 2025) has infused the university campus with creativity, youthful energy, and vibrant cultural expressions.The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana.State Information Commissioner Amarjeet Singh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh presided over the inaugural ceremony.In his inspiring address, Amarjeet Singh emphasized that education is the light that dispels the darkness of ignorance and spreads wisdom, intellect, and progress in society. He urged students to move ahead in life with discipline, dedication, and sincerity.Highlighting the importance of youth in nation-building, he said that young people are the true strength and driving force of a developed India.Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh, in his presidential remarks, stated that MDU’s present stature is the outcome of collective effort, commitment, and teamwork by its students, teachers, and staff. He added that alongside academic excellence, cultural activities play a pivotal role in the holistic development of students. Festivals like Unifest, he said, not only provide a platform for talent but also nurture leadership, confidence, and creativity among the youth.Dean, Students’ Welfare, Prof. Sapna Garg extended a warm welcome to the guests, remarking that Unifest reflects the vibrant tradition of MDU, fostering unity, creativity, and cooperation among students. Deputy Dean Prof. Sonu proposed the vote of thanks. The Director Youth Welfare Dr. Pratap Rathi and his team, coordinated and supported the successful conduct of the event. The stage were conducted efficiently by Dr. Ravi Prabhat and Dr. Priyanka Yadav.The inaugural ceremony was attended by Dean Academic Affairs Prof. S. C. Malik, Registrar Dr. Krishan Kant, Deans of various faculties, Heads of Departments, faculty members, university officials, and representatives from affiliated colleges.Following the inauguration, participants captivated the audience with a series of performances, including folk dances, group songs, theatrical acts, and modern art expressions. The auditorium echoed repeatedly with applause and cheers.The event began with two minutes of silence in memory of the victims of the Delhi blast. Director, Public Relations, Prof. Ashish Dahiya paid heartfelt tributes, stating that peace, unity, and humanity are the truest forms of homage.Under Unifest-25, a variety of cultural and literary competitions are being organized at different venues including Swaraj Sadan, Faculty Development Centre, and R.K. Auditorium.The festival once again reaffirmed that MDU stands not only as a center of academic excellence but also as a hub of cultural enrichment, where education and art merge beautifully to nurture holistic growth.
